Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy

Dear board members of the European ILAE chapters, dear friends,

We would like to inform you about the next Baltic Sea Summer School for Epilepsy which will take place on June 19 -24, 2011 in Sopot (Poland) and of which you find the 1st Announcement attached. In spite of its name, the BSSSE accepts participants from everywhere.

The 4th BSSSE in Norway this year was again very successful, and, as you can see by the attached reports, 23 nationalities were represented. The evaluation shows that, just as in the preceding years, the participants highly appreciated the programme with its strongly interactive teaching methods and informal, open atmosphere. A recent feature is that we use the BSSSE with its international attendance as a platform to develop transnational research projects.

The primary target group are young post-graduates (clinicians and researchers) with a special interest in epilepsy. We have a restricted number of bursaries available for participants who cannot afford the registration fee (which includes full board and lodging). These go primarily to participants from the Baltic Sea region but are again not restricted to them. Some epilepsy societies also provide bursaries for their own membership.
