The year 2009 will be coming to an end soon, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and inform you about the latest developments.
EUREPA developments 2009: Two new epilepsy centers in Helsinki and Brno, Czech Republic, have joined the European Educational Network of now 30 epilepsy centers, offering onsite training possibilities in the curriculum of the EUREPA Certification of Epileptology for Medical Doctors. A third graduate of this certification, Dr. Csilla Gyimesi from Hungary, was honored at the General Assembly in Budapest. 28 new members have joined EUREPA in Budapest this year, and applications keep coming. EUREPA now covers 57 countries through a total of 400 individual and 55 corporate members. EUREPA has accredited 27 educational activities in Europe and beyond the Euro pean region this year so far.
In Budapest at the International Epilepsy Congress, a General Assembly took place. At this meeting, the Chair Prof. Giuliano Avanzini stated that the process of redefining EUREPA's role in the Global Education Agenda is still ongoing. The minutes will be sent to EUREPA members shortly.
VIREPA - the Virtual Epilepsy Academy: All four e-moderated distance learning courses "Genetics of Epilepsy" (5th edition), "EEG in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy" (4th edition), "Neuroimaging" (3rd edition) and "Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy" (2nd edition)have started again in October and are presently running.
The two EUREPA co-organized onsite courses, the Migrating Course on Epilepsy and the Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy, will take place again for the fourth consecutive time in 2010. The 4th Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy will be organized in Norway, in Granavollen near Oslo from June 6-11, 2010. The BSSSE is primarily addressed to medical postgraduates and junior researchers (age up to 40) with a special clinical/scientific interest in epilepsy. Application deadline is April 10, 2010. Priority deadline for applications from the countries bordering the Baltic Sea is February 1, 2010.

The 4th Migrating Course on Epilepsy will be held in Poland, in Serock (near Warsaw), from August 15-22, 2010. This course is targeted to specialists at the second and third level of epilepsy care. Deadline for applications is February 1, 2010.
The Francophone Section is planning a Trainers' Course in Mali for 2010. This will be a joint undertaking between Mali, Senegal and Guinea.
Calendar of events: For information on further educational events, like the 6th Epilepsy Spring Course in Douro, Portugal, or the 5th Practical Epileptology School in Slovenia and many others, please see our calendar of events on the website. The two mentioned courses have already received EUREPA accreditation.
EUREPA is planning to offer Early morning teaching sessions at the European Congress on Epileptology in Rhodes, Greece, again.
Annual membership fees 2009: If you have not yet paid your membership dues of Euro 20 ( i.e. Euro 10 for juniors up to 35 years), then please transfer the fee to our bank account (see below) or transmit current credit card data. You can find the form on the homepage under 'Membership'.
The presentations of some breakfast seminars from the 8th ECE in Berlin 2008 and the 27th ICE in Singapore 2007 are available to EUREPA members on the VIREPA platform. If you do not already have a login & password, just register as a guest and we will upgrade your status to "user" and "member" on the platform.
We support the Lobbying Action for Epilepsy Research in Europe by the CEA. You can find more information on our homepage under 'activities & projects'.
